Teens: Ready to level up your art? Join us for Teen Studio, a free art-making program exclusively for teens ages 13–19. Push your artistic boundaries using materials and techniques inspired by artists whose work is now on view at the Hirshhorn. Think like a Surrealist! This Saturday, check out Moonmad by Max Ernst, a surrealist piece that blurs a recognizable face into something totally dream-like. Then head back to Art School to explore portraiture as a tool for self-expression, experimentation, and storytelling with guest artist Simone Agoussoye. Guest Artist Simone Agoussoye Simone Agoussoye is a Washington, D.C.-born multidisciplinary artist, curator, and arts educator whose work explores identity, visibility, self-worth, and the experiences of Black women through portraiture. Known for incorporating materials such as broken and crushed glass into her work, Agoussoye uses texture, reflection, and light to expand traditional approaches to portraiture. She has exhibited throughout the DMV and beyond and has spent the past six years teaching and facilitating arts programming for young people, including students at Washington School for Girls and through George Washington University’s community arts programming. Drop in to Teen Studio every Saturday between 2:30 and 4:30 PM. Register for the entire school year here (one-time registration covers all sessions). Join one session or join them all!
