Sucker for Love

Sat, Feb 13 · 7:00 PM Lincoln Theatre · U Street Corridor

Story District’s Valentine’s tradition GET TICKETS Real love stories are better than the ones in the movies. For the 19th year, Story District’s Sucker for Love is back with true stories about dating, desire, heartbreak, bad decisions, unexpected connections, and everything that happens when other people get involved in our feelings. Because love can be romantic. It can also be awkward, confusing, hilarious, devastating, ill-advised, badly timed, and occasionally worth all the trouble. On stage, storytellers share the moments they actually lived through—from disastrous dates and spectacular misreads to breakups, hookups, big feelings, questionable choices, and relationships that went somewhere nobody saw coming. No scripts. No fictional characters. No perfect Hollywood endings. Just real people telling really good stories about love. What kind of love story are we talking about? Bad dates The ones you can finally laugh about now. Big feelings The kind that make otherwise reasonable people do questionable things. Unexpected turns Because the story almost never goes where you thought it would. Real connection Sometimes sweet. Sometimes messy. Usually complicated. Come with a date. Come with friends. Come single. Sucker for Love isn’t only for couples. If you’ve ever fallen in love, sworn off love, downloaded a dating app, deleted a dating app, texted someone you definitely shouldn’t have, or simply enjoy hearing about other people’s romantic chaos, you’ll fit right in. GET A FEEL FOR THE SHOW Wondering what Sucker for Love actually feels like? Watch the story above for a taste of the laughs, the room, the crowd, and what happens when someone gets up onstage and tells the truth. A STORY DISTRICT VALENTINE’S TRADITION 19 years of true love stories in D.C. For nearly two decades, Sucker for Love has brought Washington, D.C. together to laugh, cringe, commiserate, and recognize a little bit of ourselves in somebody else’s story. This Valentine’s se…

Welcome to AskAlice

Hi, I'm Alice.

I go out a lot around DC, Virginia and Maryland, and I got tired of losing hours to Instagram Stories and a dozen venue calendars just to find out what was happening. So I built this to do that watching for me — real, confirmed events pulled from hundreds of sources, sorted so you can find your night instead of hunting for it.
