Cinema + Conversation: Montmartre
Fri, Nov 13 · 5:30 PM National Museum of African American History and Culture · National Mall
Fall in love with an evening of cinema and conversation. This Cinema + Conversation features a French-inspired dinner, a screening of Montmartre, and a conversation with the film’s writer and director, Leon Hendrix III, producer Maurice D. Hendrix, and stars Ito Aghayere and Jesse Williams. The evening begins at 5:30 pm with a French-inspired dinner, inviting guests to experience the flavors and atmosphere of France before journeying to Paris through the film. After dinner, guests will head to the Oprah Winfrey Theater for the 7:00 pm screening of Montmartre. Montmartre tells the story of a woman dissatisfied with her increasingly disconnected life; Jo travels to the storied Parisian neighborhood of Montmartre, where she meets Toussaint, a tour guide who loves poetry, magic, and romance. As the two grow closer, culture, art, and love intertwine, reconnecting Jo with a passion for life she thought she had lost. A moderated conversation will follow the screening with Leon, Maurice, Ito, and Jesse about the making of Montmartre and the film’s exploration of art, culture, place, romance, and rediscovery. Runtime: 1 hour, 43 minutes Rating: Not Rated (NR). Some material may be inappropriate for children under 13.
