Come explore with the Anacostia Watershed Society at Kingman Island Friends and Family Day on Saturday, October 17th from 11 am – 3 pm. Visit us at our table to meet our freshwater mussel friends and join us on the Anacostia River for motorized boat tours from 12 pm – 3 pm. Sign-ups for the boat tours will happen on-site. This all ages event is a celebration of everything the Islands have to offer as a unique space in the District dedicated to conservation, environmental education, and recreation. Activities will include paddling, motorized boat tours, guided nature walks, nature-forward and sustainable arts and crafts, a clothing swap, and more. Advance registration for Kingman Island Friends and Family Day is encouraged but not required. You can register by clicking here . This event is rain or shine, though we will cancel if thunderstorms and lightning are likely. Find transportation options here . Parking is only available at the RFK Lot 6 Entrance (575 Oklahoma Ave NE) unless you need to access our limited accessible parking option at the Benning Rd Entrance (3101 Benning Rd NE).
