Velvet Hour: An Evening at Eye Level Wednesday, October 28 · Eighteenth Street Lounge, Shaw Slow, sensual burlesque performed at eye level, a few feet from your seat. There's no stage, no platform, no distance, just the performance in the same space you're in, for a deliberately small audience. Between acts, a DJ keeps the mood going with sensual music, so the evening flows from one act to the next without breaking the spell. This month brings two performers and five acts. Your host for the evening is Eva Mystique , who guides you through the night and performs two acts of her own. Joining her is Isabelle Epoque , whose dramatic gaze and signature feather fans bring classic, high-glamour burlesque. She performs three acts. About Eva Mystique Eva Mystique is a nationally touring burlesque artist based in Washington, DC, known for a sultry, dance-driven style that fuses classic belly dance, tease, and fluid floor work. A member of DC's own Chocolate City Burlesque and co-founder of the performance trio Serafemme, she has graced stages across the country — from Las Vegas and New York to New Orleans and Atlanta — leaving audiences mesmerized. Her performances prize musicality and flexibility over spectacle: slow, deliberate, and devastatingly elegant. She doesn't just perform a number; she casts it. About Isabelle Epoque Isabelle Epoque seduces an audience with a single look. Her dramatic gaze draws you in, her feather fans keep you guessing, and by the reveal you won't be sure whether it's your heart or your head that's on fire. Known as DC's Diplomat of Decadence, she's a classically trained dancer with roots in Egyptian cabaret and Lebanese folkloric belly dance, and she has headlined burlesque shows up and down the East Coast. Her style is classic, high-glamour tease: painted silk, old-world elegance, and the art of the reveal. Every fan she opens is an invitation.
