Oktoberfest season is all about malt, balance, and great brewing traditions, but there's more than one way to make a proper fest beer. Friday Beer Tasting: Oktoberfest, Four Ways from Munich to DC Oktoberfest season is all about malt, balance, and great brewing traditions, but there's more than one way to make a proper fest beer. This Friday, we're putting four different interpretations side by side, from a classic Munich Oktoberfestbier to local Märzen and Vienna-style lagers, plus a non-alcoholic take on the tradition. We will be pouring and talking through the styles, flavors, and brewing traditions behind each selection from 6 PM to 7 PM. What we're tasting DC Brau Oktoberfest A DC-brewed Märzen with rich toasted bread, light caramel, and biscuit notes, balanced by traditional German noble hops. Smooth, malty, and a great example of the classic amber Oktoberfest style. Hofbräu Oktoberfest Straight from Munich, this traditional golden festival lager delivers a fuller body with notes of honey, caramel, and dried fruit, complemented by gentle hop bitterness. A taste of the real Bavarian Oktoberfest tradition. Manor Hill Festbier Vienna Style Lager Maryland's Manor Hill brings its own interpretation with an amber Vienna-style lager featuring rich, bready malt, a touch of toast, and restrained noble hops. Clean, crisp, and beautifully balanced. Athletic Brewing Oktoberfest Fest Brew All the malt character of a traditional fall beer, without the alcohol. Brewed with Vienna and Munich malts, this non-alcoholic Fest Brew offers notes of fresh bread, honey, and a touch of sweetness balanced by light hop bitterness. Bonus Get 10 percent off all four featured selections during the tasting.
