The Images That Made Us, The Images That Set Us Free

Wed, Oct 21 · 4:30 PM S&R Evermay Foundation · Georgetown

Dasha Dare on mapping an emerging field at the edge of memory, emotion and self-recognition. Please register via our website: https://evermay.org/ff-event/the-images-that-made-us-the-images-that-set-us-free-mapping-an-emerging-field-at-the-edge-of-memory-emotion-and-self-recognition/ What does it take to truly recognize — and return to — ourselves, as our images multiply and our avatars arrive? Multidisciplinary artist and researcher Dasha Dare presents a map of an emerging field, built around her hypothesis that meeting one’s own eyes in an image made at a moment of emotional intensity can open a doorway to memory the body has stored but never resolved.

Welcome to AskAlice

Hi, I'm Alice.

I go out a lot around DC, Virginia and Maryland, and I got tired of losing hours to Instagram Stories and a dozen venue calendars just to find out what was happening. So I built this to do that watching for me — real, confirmed events pulled from hundreds of sources, sorted so you can find your night instead of hunting for it.
