Tree Tour Through Georgetown
Sat, Oct 24 · 10:00 AM Georgetown
Take a tour of Georgetown's most iconic trees. Join Casey Trees and Trees for Georgetown for a walking tour celebrating the historic trees of one of DC’s most historic neighborhoods. Before the tour, enjoy coffee and a light breakfast at a nearby Georgetown home courtesy of Boulangerie Christophe . Then set out on an hour-long walk along Georgetown’s cobblestone streets, where you’ll encounter magnificent oaks, magnolias, and other trees that have helped define the neighborhood for generations—including a towering tulip poplar in Montrose Park, once recognized as one of the largest trees in the District. Along the way, you’ll learn how Georgetown’s tree-lined streets trace back to Pierre L’Enfant’s original 1791 city plan, discover some of the neighborhood’s most remarkable trees, and hear how Trees for Georgetown and Casey Trees have partnered to plant more than 3,000 trees on Georgetown’s residential streets over the years. All proceeds from this tree walk directly support the work of Casey Trees and Trees for Georgetown to plant, care for, and protect our city’s tree canopy. The launch address will be shared with attendees in an email prior to the event. Requirements Clothes and shoes: Dress comfortably and appropriately for the weather.
