2026 Virtuosos of the OPA Exhibition

Fri, Oct 9 · 6:00 PM 208 King St · Old Town Alexandria

Principle Gallery hosts the 2026 Virtuosos of the OPA, celebrating the skill and evolution of traditional oil painting. Oct. 9–Nov. 8. Principle Gallery is honored to host the 2026 Virtuosos of the OPA Exhibition of Traditional Oils, presented in partnership with Oil Painters of America. Bringing together work by OPA Associate, Signature, and Master Signature artists, the exhibition celebrates the skill, vision, and continued evolution of traditional oil painting today. Through a diverse selection of subjects and artistic approaches, Virtuosos of the OPA highlights the breadth of contemporary representational painting. From landscapes and still lifes to figurative works and scenes of everyday life, each painting reflects an individual artistic voice while sharing a commitment to strong draftsmanship, thoughtful observation, and mastery of the oil medium. Oil Painters of America has long worked to advance the tradition of representational oil painting while fostering excellence among artists across North America. This exhibition offers an opportunity to experience that tradition through the work of artists carrying it forward, demonstrating that traditional painting remains both vibrant and continually evolving. The 2026 Virtuosos of the OPA Exhibition of Traditional Oils opens at Principle Gallery on Friday, October 9, 2026, with an opening reception from 6:00 to 8:30 PM. The exhibition will remain on view through Sunday, November 8, 2026.

Welcome to AskAlice

Hi, I'm Alice.

I go out a lot around DC, Virginia and Maryland, and I got tired of losing hours to Instagram Stories and a dozen venue calendars just to find out what was happening. So I built this to do that watching for me — real, confirmed events pulled from hundreds of sources, sorted so you can find your night instead of hunting for it.
