Point of View (David Razowsky Master Class)

Tue 3 Nov · 6:30 PM DC Improv · Dupont Circle

Tuesday, November 3, 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. Prerequisite: Level 2 improv classes or permission of the instructor and principal. The challenge for most improvisers is trying to stick to “the rules” and believing “Yes, and” is the magic formula for a successful scene. Characters meander and never find their footing. In an instant, you travel from a state of fluidity to a mess of frustration and ask yourself, “How did I go wrong?” or “Now what?” These masterclasses provide methods and exercises that teach you to connect to your partner and the scene without worrying about the rules. Point of View: It’s the bedrock of every relationship. You state your point of view, and your partner says theirs. Sounds easy, right? But how often are scenes derailed because the actors don’t hold onto their points of view or mindlessly add unnecessary details that throw the scene off course? Recognizing, maintaining, and evolving a point of view creates confident and exciting scenes. About the instructor: David Razowsky studied, performed, taught, and directed at Second City with performers Stephen Colbert, Steve Carrell, and Michael Keegan-Key, among many others. He went on to serve as Artistic Director of Second City Hollywood for nine years before turning his attention to full-time coaching. He has directed and taught his methodology to individuals and groups in the US and worldwide. All sales are final. There are no refunds or exchanges. Class Policies Patrons must be 18 or older to attend events or classes at the DC Improv. Any exceptions are clearly noted in the event descriptions on dcimprov.com.

Welcome to AskAlice

Hi, I'm Alice.

I go out a lot around DC, Virginia and Maryland, and I got tired of losing hours to Instagram Stories and a dozen venue calendars just to find out what was happening. So I built this to do that watching for me — real, confirmed events pulled from hundreds of sources, sorted so you can find your night instead of hunting for it.
