Terroir Tasting: Beaujolais Crus And More!
Sat, Nov 7 · 12:00 PM 1351 Chain Bridge Rd · McLean
From the innovative white to three classic Cru Bojo to the sweet treat at the end, you're going to find each delicious wine fascinating. Do you like your wine to taste of the place it came from? Or wonder if the same grape treated roughly the same way makes really different wine just because of the soil and slopes under the vines? Or just love Gamay, the grape of sneaky complexity, crunchy freshness and ability to shine with all kinds of food - even Thanksgiving dinner? If any of these apply to you - or you're just curious about Beaujolais beyond Neuveau - this Saturday's tasting is for you! Because our good friend Sandy Dickerson of Robins Cellars will be pouring five Kermit Lynch selections from noon-4pm. Including three wines that more or less give a masterclass in why the winegrowers of Beaujolais knew what they were doing when they divvied up their best sites into different "Crus". Here's what Sandy will be sharing: Nicole Chanrion Perle de Gamay Blanc 2024 - So you already know Gamay makes a great Thanksgiving red. Nicole Chanrion’s son Romain proves it can make a great white, too! Pear, citrus, wet stones and a red fruit note weave in and out here in a dry wine that's much more than a curiosity! Domaine Chignard Fleurie Les Moriers 2024 - About as textbook a Fleurie as we've tasted in recent years with lovely red fruit and layer-upon-layer of floral perfume and complexity. Silky and crunchy at the same time. Marcel Lapierre Morgon 2025 - From one of the "Gang of Four" who helped bring Beaujolais back to its roots, this is delicious and right down the middle Morgon with some plushness, dark fruit, and fine minerality. Domaine Diochon Moulin-à-Vent Vieilles Vignes 2023 - The most muscular, cellar-worthy, Cru of Beaujolais shows up here in a form powerful enough for rich food and fresh enough to keep you coming back from more. You'll taste the vineyard's pink granite in every sip. Dom de Durban Muscat de Beaumes de Venise 2023 - Every Thanksgiving dinner needs something sweet at the end, and this mouthful of stone fruit, spice and ginger is going to taste great with your turkey day dessert. More fun than Sauternes and a LOT less expensive. From the innovative white to three classic Cru Bojo to the sweet treat at the end, you're going to find each delicious wine fascinating. And while all five are going to work for Thanksgiving, they're also going to keep you smiling all winter long. All on sale, too. Come taste the joys of terroir this Saturday from noon-4pm at CBC!
