The Strathmore Jazz Orchestra brings together the best jazz musicians in the country, including members of the premiere DC military jazz ensembles, top local talent from the Washington DC area, and players from the New York jazz scene. Led by music director and arranger Daniel Jamieson, the big band is joined by Grammy-nominated Latin jazz clarinetist and saxophonist Anat Cohen, and tenor saxophonist and vocalist Camille Thurman, second place winner of the Sarah Vaughn Vocal Competition and regular with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, in an evening of big band brilliance. Arrangements by John Fedchock, Mike Holober, Daniel Jamieson, and Jim McNeely. An established bandleader and prolific composer, idiomatically conversant with modern and traditional jazz, classical music, Brazilian choro and an expansive timeline of Afro-Cuban styles, Anat Cohen has established herself as one of the primary voices of her generation on both the tenor saxophone and clarinet since arriving in New York in 1999.
