Site Visit/Tour: Anderson House & Museum of American Revolution Institute of Society of the Cincinnati

Sat, Nov 21 · 10:00 AM Anderson House & Museum of American Revolution Institute of Society of the Cincinnati · Dupont Circle

Anderson House was completed in 1905 as the winter residence of Isabel and Larz Anderson and, since 1938, has been the headquarters of the Society of the Cincinnati. Located within the Massachusetts Avenue and Dupont Circle historic districts, the former residence is complete with grand entertaining spaces inspired by a variety of architectural styles and filled with the many artifacts from the family’s extensive travels. Anderson House was built for social, political, and philanthropic events, welcoming amongst their guests—society notables, diplomats, military figures, and heads of state, including three U.S. presidents and the King of Siam (Thailand). In 1938, following the wishes of her late husband Larz (himself a member), Isabel donated Anderson House to the Society of the Cincinnati to become its headquarters and museum. The Society is the nation’s oldest patriotic organization founded in the final days of the American Revolutionary War by the American and French officers. Today from Anderson House, the Society through its American Revolution Institute continues its educational mission to perpetuate the legacy of the American Revolution with its museum and library collections, public programs, and educational initiatives. This tour will be led by Paul Newman, the Museum Collections and Operations Manager for the Society of the Cincinnati and its American Revolution Institute. This event has a ticket cost of $10 and space is limited – register today! REGISTER HERE

Welcome to AskAlice

Hi, I'm Alice.

I go out a lot around DC, Virginia and Maryland, and I got tired of losing hours to Instagram Stories and a dozen venue calendars just to find out what was happening. So I built this to do that watching for me — real, confirmed events pulled from hundreds of sources, sorted so you can find your night instead of hunting for it.
