Urinetown

Sat 31 Oct · 2:00 PM GMU Center for the Arts

ASL Interpreted Performance on October 30 at 7:30 p.m. Audio Described Performance on October 30 at 7:30 p.m. Urinetown is a hilarious musical satire of the legal system, capitalism, social irresponsibility, populism, environmental collapse, privatization of natural resources, bureaucracy, municipal politics, and musical theatre itself! Hilariously funny and touchingly honest, Urinetown provides a fresh perspective on one of America's greatest art forms. In a Gotham-like city, a terrible water shortage, caused by a 20-year drought, has led to a government-enforced ban on private toilets. The citizens must use public amenities, regulated by a single malevolent company that profits by charging admission for one of humanity's most basic needs. Amid the people, a hero decides that he's had enough and plans a revolution to lead them all to freedom! Written by Greg Kotis and Mark Hollmann Directed by James Gardiner Musical Direction by Paige Rammelkamp Choreography by Ariel Kraje Preview October 28 - at 7:30 p.m. October 29 - 7:30 p.m. October 30 - 7:30 p.m., with a Post-Show Talkback. Welcome to AskAlice

Hi, I'm Alice.

I go out a lot around DC, Virginia and Maryland, and I got tired of losing hours to Instagram Stories and a dozen venue calendars just to find out what was happening. So I built this to do that watching for me — real, confirmed events pulled from hundreds of sources, sorted so you can find your night instead of hunting for it.
