Portrait Connections

Fri, Nov 6 · 5:00 PM Donald W. Reynolds Center · Penn Quarter

A relaxed social event designed for adults (ages 21+) who identify as Autistic or with sensory, learning, and developmental disabilities. Held in the building’s iconic Great Hall, this program provides opportunities to connect with the community while exploring art, history, and biography in a sensory-friendly environment. The program offers several opportunities for participation: Exhibition Galleries and Guided Tour: Guests can explore the third-floor galleries at their own pace or join a 30-minute tour at 6:00 p.m highlighting select portraits in nearby galleries. Hands-On Activity: Try a fun, creative activity related to portraiture. Wine, Drinks, and Snacks: Relax and mingle while enjoying refreshments. Each guest will receive one coupon for a free drink. Additional drinks may be purchased. Break Area: Need a break from the fun? A quiet space will be available for your comfort. Registration is required. Portrait Connections programs are free for visitors with disabilities and their companions. If the event is sold out, please email [email protected] to be placed on the waiting list. Accessibility and What to Expect: This program allows participants to engage at their own pace. Staff will be available for support throughout the program. While the museum will be open to the public (museum hours are 11:30am-7pm), the third floor (including the Gread Hall) is generally quiet. A variety of seating will be provided for activity, refreshment, and rest. The museum is fully wheelchair accessible. There is an accessible restroom on the third floor. Read more about accessibility at the Portrait Gallery. We welcome questions and accommodation requests that support your participation. Email us at [email protected] , or call 202-633-8506. Welcome to AskAlice

Hi, I'm Alice.

I go out a lot around DC, Virginia and Maryland, and I got tired of losing hours to Instagram Stories and a dozen venue calendars just to find out what was happening. So I built this to do that watching for me — real, confirmed events pulled from hundreds of sources, sorted so you can find your night instead of hunting for it.
