History Film Forum presents "Join or Die": Civic Engagement and Democracy
Thu, Nov 19 · 7:00 PM National Museum of American History · National Mall
Join the History Film Forum for a screening of the Emmy-nominated Netflix documentary Join or Die ! Join or Die follows the half-century story of America’s civic unraveling through the journey of legendary social scientist Robert Putnam, whose groundbreaking “Bowling Alone” research into America’s decades-long decline in community connections could hold the answers to our democracy’s present crisis. Flanked by influential fans and scholars, as well as inspiring groups building community in neighborhoods across the country, join Bob as he explores three urgent civic questions: What makes democracy work? Why is American democracy in crisis? And, most importantly… What can we do about it? After the screening, join us for a conversation with the film's producers as we talk about the history of social groups, associations, and clubs- and why you should join one! _____________________ The National Museum of American History welcomes visitors of all ages and abilities.
