Exile and Return: A Reading and Discussion

Sun, Dec 13 · 4:30 PM The Writer's Center · Bethesda

The Writer’s Center welcomes graduate students of the American University MFA Program for a reading and discussion of their findings this semester. These graduate students are joined by poet and American University professor, David Keplinger. FREE & open to the public. RSVP below. About the Event In this reading featuring graduate students of the American University MFA Program in Creative Writing, a selection of poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction will map the experiences of exile that sometimes foist upon our human psyche a vision of the totality. As members of AU’s craft course, LIT 711, “Creativity and Exile,” these writers will share work that was the result of the inquiry around brokenness and the creative urge to repair, understand, and make whole again. If you need an accommodation for this event, please contact us at [email protected] . We will attempt to fulfill all requests, but advance notice is necessary to arrange for some accessibility services. Enjoying our free events? Help us offer more programs to support writers with a $10 donation »

Welcome to AskAlice

Hi, I'm Alice.

I go out a lot around DC, Virginia and Maryland, and I got tired of losing hours to Instagram Stories and a dozen venue calendars just to find out what was happening. So I built this to do that watching for me — real, confirmed events pulled from hundreds of sources, sorted so you can find your night instead of hunting for it.
