Happenstance Theater presents “JUXTAPOSE: A Theatrical Shadow Box”
Sun 20 Dec · 3:00 PM Reston Community Center
Step into a magical-realist tenement where eccentric characters try to co-exist during the sixth mass extinction, until a human shooting star crashes through the roof, igniting chaos, wonder and unlikely connection. Inspired by the shadow boxes of Joseph Cornell and the films of Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Jacques Tati, this funny, surreal and visually inventive production turns everyday objects, quirky characters and unlikely encounters into poetic possibilities. With humor and theatrical surprise, younger audiences can explore big questions about fear, hope and how we care for one another. Best for ages 10+. Younger children welcome if comfortable with loud sirens, flashing lights and a dramatic tone.
