Oedipus in Seattle

Mon, Oct 12 · 7:00 PM Studio 1469 · Columbia Heights

Sophocles’ "Oedipus Rex" meets 1993's rom-com "Sleepless in Seattle." 2 actors, lots of questions about love and destiny, 0 rehearsals. Two different actors will take the stage each night without having rehearsed or read the script. Instructions from a voice in their headphones will guide them through the piece as they assume the roles of Oedipus, Jocasta, Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks. Oedipus in Seattle is a show about destiny, and the uncertainty of living a life without one. In this piece, the actors will function more like we all do in real life- without a script, stumbling from one task to the next, trying and mostly failing to understand what it all means. Script by Savannah Reich, and sound design and an original score by sound artist Douglas Vento. Cast: October 10: Martina Schabron & Dylan Arredondo October 11: Erika Rose & James J. Johnson October 12: Kimberly Gilbert & Jacob Yeh Runtime: 60 minutes

Welcome to AskAlice

Hi, I'm Alice.

I go out a lot around DC, Virginia and Maryland, and I got tired of losing hours to Instagram Stories and a dozen venue calendars just to find out what was happening. So I built this to do that watching for me — real, confirmed events pulled from hundreds of sources, sorted so you can find your night instead of hunting for it.
