Revolutionary Stories: Indigenous Americans and the American Revolution
Sun, Nov 8 · 2:00 PM Loudoun Museum · Leesburg
James “Jay” G. Harrison III, Executive Director of The Museum of Culpeper History, historian, first person living history interpreter, and archaeologist will discuss the history of Indigenous Americans in the American Revolution. In particular, he will examine the alliances of Native nations: how they viewed the war, why some tribes remained neutral, why others chose the side of the American colonists and while still others allied themselves with the British. In addition, Mr. Harrison will discuss the roles and contributions of Indigenous Americans during this conflict as diplomats, scouts and soldiers. Revolutionary Stories is open to the public, and presentations will be uploaded to our YouTube channel. Check out Loudoun Museum’s social media, website, and sign up for our newsletter to find out about program announcements, updates, and more. The program series are made possible in part by a grant from Virginia Humanities.
