Breaking the New Axis: A U.S. Grand Strategy for Eurasia
Tue, Oct 20 · 1:00 PM The Institute of World Politics
Join Seth Cropsey as he examines U.S. strategy to counter China, Russia, and Iran across Eurasia. About the Lecture Breaking the New Axis: A U.S. Grand Strategy for Eurasia counters the arguments of today's isolationists, of those who seek security solely in multinational organizations, and of those who would focus on China's threat to the virtual exclusion of the rest of the world. Instead, Cropsey and Harem argue that America's great security challenge lies in the entire Eurasian landmass where the individual and collective threats posed by revisionist Axis, i.e. Russia, Iran, China, and North Korea, challenge US security, economics, commerce, presence, and ability to preserve a modicum of order friendly to democracy, untrammeled commerce, and human rights. Blending history, strategy, and policy, their analysis presents a comprehensive U.S. approach to countering the coordinated threat posed by China, Russia, and Iran. It outlines how America can exploit their shared weaknesses and secure strategic dominance across Eurasia through military preparedness, alliance-building, and coherent grand strategy.
