Embodied Thanksgiving Decompression
Sun, Nov 29 · 2:30 PM Rhizome DC · Takoma
Sunday November 29 * 2:30pm * $donations encouraged * RSVP The holidays often bring complicated feelings. They can offer meaningful connection with family and community, but they can also be trying and tumultuous. Thanksgiving in particular is deeply rooted in settler colonial history, and even when we hold warm feelings toward certain traditions, it can be hard to ignore associations with empire, displacement, and injustice, especially as uncertainty and fascism spread. Come debrief with us through an experiential, compassionate conversation to navigate these tensions together. Drawing on the group practices of sociometry and sociodrama, this experiential conversation will use participatory practices that invite us to explore our perspectives and relationships in a thoughtful and embodied way. Through guided prompts, movement, reflection, and role-based exploration, we’ll have space to notice how and where we feel connected, conflicted, and uncertain, especially after the holiday weekend. Donation-based. Reservation encouraged, spots limited. Questions? Contact facilitators Thomas Northup at [email protected] or Sam Klotz at [email protected].
