MOVIE NIGHT: Night of the Hunter (1955)
Fri, Nov 6 · 7:00 PM Dandelion Collective DC · Columbia Heights
Join The Fanthropologist at Dandelion Collective for fan and cult favorites. Welcome to Noirvember with The Fanthropologist. Noirs are just old movies where men slap women and shoot other men, right? Wrong! Noirs are complex social commentaries on depression, agency, justice, violence, and systemic toxicity. And they look gorgeous. Synopsis: In Depression-era West Virginia, a serial-killing preacher hunts two young children who know the whereabouts of a stash of money. Suggested donations are $10 per ticket and accepted at the door. -------- The Fanthropologist is a film and TV academic who specializes in fandom and fan communities. Partnering with Dandelion Collective, she is excited to host a slate of fun, cult, and timeless film favorites with a queer lens (it's the only lens she's got). Ranging from Pre-Code to 90s throwbacks, Fanthropologist movie nights are a great way to spend a night out, be in community, and talk pop culture.
