OCTFME presents Preserving The Pocket: Go-Go Through The Lens

Mon, Nov 16 · 6:00 PM Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library · Downtown DC

Celebrate Go-Go Preservation Week with films, interactive activities, and a conversation with the voices behind DC's Go-Go culture. What does it take to keep DC's Go-Go stories alive? Join the DC Office of Cable Television, Film, Music & Entertainment (OCTFME) for Preserving the Pocket: Go-Go Through the Lens, a Go-Go Preservation Week celebration at MLK Library. The evening brings together a curated selection of Go-Go films, interactive activities, and a conversation moderated by Anwan "Big G" Glover. Hear from people who help carry the culture forward and explore how film captures the sound, stories, and community that make Go-Go a part of everyday life in DC. Whether you grew up up going to Go-Gos or you're just getting to know the music, come spend an evening with the people and stories behind DC's signature sound. Accessibility and acommodations: To request reasonable accomodations or interpretation, or for additional information, contact OCTFME at (202) 671-0066 or [email protected] at least seven days before the event.

Welcome to AskAlice

Hi, I'm Alice.

I go out a lot around DC, Virginia and Maryland, and I got tired of losing hours to Instagram Stories and a dozen venue calendars just to find out what was happening. So I built this to do that watching for me — real, confirmed events pulled from hundreds of sources, sorted so you can find your night instead of hunting for it.
