Data Centers & DC: A Community Forum

Wed, Oct 28 · 6:00 PM Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library · Downtown DC

Amid ongoing debates about data centers (the warehouse‑like facilities that house the computer servers powering everything from everyday online services to large‑scale artificial intelligence) this event invites the community to slow down, get clarity, and dig into the issue together. Through community‑driven questions and a panel bringing together firsthand expertise in energy regulation, utility operations, environmental advocacy, and community impact, this forum is designed to help participants weigh the tradeoffs for themselves and form their own informed opinions. Event overview 6-6:45pm: What are our questions and concerns about data centers' local impacts? Adam Carlesco of the Office of the People's Counsel of the District of Columbia will facilitate a community discussion amongst participants to surface questions, concerns, and areas that need clarification related to data centers. 6:45-7:45pm: What do we know about data centers' local impact? Ted Trabue, Interim Chairman of the Public Service Commission of the District of Columbia , will facilitate a panel discussion on data centers' local impact featuring panelists with expertise in energy regulation, utility operations, environmental advocacy, and community impact. Panelists: Angie McCarthy, Clean Energy Campaign Manager for Nature Forward Nature Forward inspires residents of the greater Washington, DC region to appreciate, understand, and protect their natural environment through outdoor experiences, education, and advocacy. Romita Biswas, Technical Lead and Policy Advisor for Electrify DC Electrify DC mobilizes homeowners and renters, support professionals upgrading homes, and drive systemic change that gives power to the people. Welcome to AskAlice

Hi, I'm Alice.

I go out a lot around DC, Virginia and Maryland, and I got tired of losing hours to Instagram Stories and a dozen venue calendars just to find out what was happening. So I built this to do that watching for me — real, confirmed events pulled from hundreds of sources, sorted so you can find your night instead of hunting for it.
