People of Color in Politics
Thu, Oct 22 · 1:00 PM Media and Public Affairs Building · Foggy Bottom
IDDP Office; Suite 201. IDDP's Food for Thought event series is designed to spark curiosity and conversation by bringing together faculty and university affiliates who want to share their research with the broader university community. Each session highlights innovative work and invites open and insightful discussion across disciplines. Enjoy great ideas and thoughtful dialogue — and lunch is on us. Our next Food for Thought conversation will be led by Professor Jasmine Smith. Professor Smith will analyze how people of color work together in politics. She will focus on whether people of color engage in costly political behavior for the group, whether the desire for co-racial representatives extends to people of color, and how solidaristic behavior is different amongst different racial and ethnic minorities (Asian, Black, and Latino Americans) within the people of color category.
