Riverside Tree Planting at the Bladensburg Waterfront Park

Fri, Oct 23 · 10:00 AM Bladensburg Waterfront Park

Note: This event is weather dependent. If you are sick or exhibiting symptoms associated with COVID-19 (such as fever, chills, cough, sore throat, difficulty breathing, loss of taste or smell, etc.), please do not come to the event and consider joining us another time. Date : Friday, October 23, 2026 Time : 10:00 am – 1:00 pm Meeting Location : Bladensburg Waterfront Park: 4601 Annapolis Road, Bladensburg, MD 20710 (map) We will meet by the red caboose! There is limited parking available This site can be accessed by car, bus (Metrobus: T18, T14, F8), or bike trail Project : You will join the Anacostia Watershed Society for a tree planting along the riverside area of Bladensburg Waterfront Park. We will focus on planting trees in the forested area damaged by the invasive emerald ash borer beetle. We will be planting in a wet and muddy area, so please wear waterproof boots/shoes! Planting these trees is important because they will help to increase biodiversity in the tree canopy, manage stormwater and filter surface water before it goes into the Anacostia River, they prevent erosion of the river bank, and they create habitat for wildlife. By participating in this project, your team will help us to restore the tree canopy, improve the water quality of the Anacostia River, and the habitat for wildlife. Physical Level of Difficulty : Moderate to Difficult – This event will likely involve lifting, bending, and walking in some steep and muddy areas. If you think any of the physical requirements will be problematic, please let us know. Bathroom Situation : Stalled bathrooms and port-a-potties are available for use at our meeting spot – once on site we will be a mile away from the bathrooms. We do recommend using the bathroom before arriving and/or walking to the site. There is also a water bottle fill-up station and water fountain available for use at the park. Registration is encouraged . Please register before the event to receive additional important event inf…

Welcome to AskAlice

Hi, I'm Alice.

I go out a lot around DC, Virginia and Maryland, and I got tired of losing hours to Instagram Stories and a dozen venue calendars just to find out what was happening. So I built this to do that watching for me — real, confirmed events pulled from hundreds of sources, sorted so you can find your night instead of hunting for it.
